Born from one tortoise, one sanctuary, and one unforgettable moment.

Good Bits didn’t begin with a product idea - it began with a message.
A heartfelt email sent late at night by a woman caring for a 100-pound tortoise who needed help no one could provide.

In June 2025, Laura Roggendorf, Founder and Executive Director of Healing HEART Sanctuary, reached out to us on behalf of Bitty - a giant tortoise with mobility challenges and the softest spirit. She had spent months searching for a safe, low-entry water tray that Bitty could step into without slipping or hurting himself.

- Nothing existed.
- Not in pet stores.
- Not online.
- Not in the tortoise-keeping community.

And then she found us.

Her message was simple, honest, and filled with hope:

“We have been searching for a low-threshold plastic tray for our 100lbs+ tortoise, Bitty. Your tray might be the perfect solution. If it works for us, it may help so many other tortoise parents, too.”

Those words stayed with us.

We sent a tray - not as a sale, but as a small act of care for an animal who deserved comfort. The emails that followed were full of photos, questions about safety and materials, color suggestions, and updates from the sanctuary.

Then came the message that changed everything:

“He finally went in today. YAY!”

That was the moment Good Bits™ was born.

Seeing Bitty - a giant tortoise with physical challenges — calmly step into the tray, hydrate safely, and enjoy the moment showed us something powerful:

There was a real need in the tortoise community.
A need for products that simply didn’t exist.

This wasn’t just gratitude - it was a call to action.

So we created Good Bits™ - a brand inspired by Bitty, shaped by real tortoise owners, and built on the belief that large tortoises deserve products made for them, thoughtfully and compassionately.
